A tale of two buildings in Ukraine. The building on the left after USAID provided energy efficient insulation; on the right, a building that remains energy inefficient.

Community Spotlights: Share Your Work on Clean Energy and Energy Efficiency in Urban Areas with the Climatelinks Community!

By Climatelinks

Climatelinks is focusing on clean energy and energy efficiency in urban areas this month. We would like to hear from you!

As urbanization and industrialization continue to grow exponentially in developing countries, increasing the development and use of clean energy and energy-efficient technologies can contribute to improved energy security and sustainable urban development. Specifically, these efforts cut energy consumption and costs, increase energy access, curb greenhouse gas emissions, and reduce the effects of air pollution on human and environmental health.

How are clean energy and energy efficiency being integrated into urban development and infrastructure? What are examples of successes in and challenges to reducing greenhouse gas emissions in urban areas? How does clean energy and energy efficiency contribute to improved human and environmental health? What are initiatives focused on improving enabling environments, promoting practices, and building capacity for clean energy and energy efficiency in urban areas?

Do you have online resources, tools, videos, blogs or events you would like to share with the Climatelinks community that explore these questions and this topic more broadly? Send us a message at [email protected] with your resources by May 25 and we will share them via our blog, social media and monthly newsletter. We look forward to receiving and sharing information about activities and resources developed by your organization or others that you look to for guidance as a development practitioner.

Throughout the month visit the Climatelinks blog and library, LinkedIn and Twitter for research, case studies, and tools we will share on this topic.
