Picture in April 2023, shows a rice farm in Majin Gari, Lavun Local Government Area of Niger State (Long: 6.113753, Lat: 9.07204), Nigeria, by Salihu Idris (in the plot), was fertilized solely with biochar and compost, and no synthetic fertilizers, yielded 4.5 tons/ha, without any release of carbon emissions from the farming activity. The farmer, Salisu, is one of the participants of the USAID Feed the Future Nigeria Agricultural Extension and Advisory Services Activity implemented by Winrock International.

Climate Change Adaptation and Inclusive Finance in Fiji

With support from the USAID Climate Ready project, award-winning FDB was the first development bank in the South Pacific to be accredited to the Green Climate Fund (GCF), the world’s largest climate fund. In 2017, it became a Direct Access Entity, meaning it can submit funding proposals to the GCF and oversee the funded projects. Such accreditation is a pathway for countries to gain access to funds that can enable them to act on their own climate change priorities.

Private Sector Training Empowers Minigrid Proposals for Haiti

In March 2019, the Government of Haiti released an official request for proposals as part of a broader plan to support the development of minigrids. Minigrids generally involve small-scale electricity generation and can advance energy transitions in rural areas by enabling a power supply for communities lacking reliable electricity.
