Madagascar is home to around 5% of the world’s biodiversity, but as one of the world’s poorest countries, biodiversity is under severe threat. USAID has partnered with The Foundation for Protected Areas and Biodiversity of Madagascar (FAPBM) to introduce a new approach to financing protected areas.

Inside the protected area of Menabe Antimena is Madagascar's largest dry forest--45% of which has disappeared in only the last 10 years due to massive deforestation, fires, migration, illegal maize cultivation, corruption and unscrupulous private interests.
