In the last half of 2020, Climatelinks and the Climate Economic Analysis for Development, Investment and Resilience (CEADIR) Activity collaborated on a series of webinars presenting work completed during CEADIR’s final year. This continuation of CEADIR's Navigating the Climate Economy Series hosted discussions of:

Using Parametric Insurance to Reduce Climate Risks of Renewable Energy Resources

This webinar discussed a report by CEADIR titled Parametric Insurance for Renewable Power Producers in Central America, and was jointly organized with Climatelinks and Marketlinks. Panelists from two leading international reinsurance companies, MunichRe and SwissRe, discussed their experiences with parametric insurance for utility-scale variable renewable energy throughout the world.

Cost-Benefit Analysis: Mangrove Conservation versus Shrimp Aquaculture in Indonesia

This webinar was led by two authors of a cost-benefit analysis by the USAID-funded Climate Economic Analysis Development, Investment, and Resilience (CEADIR) Activity, which shed light on the financial and economic value of mangrove conservation, including impacts on near-shore fishing and greenhouse gas emissions. The study focused on Bintuni Bay and Mimika District in Papua and West Papua in Indonesia.

This webinar presented highlights from the USAID-funded Climate Economic Analysis, Development, Investment, and Resilience (CEADIR) Activity’s Climate Finance Assessment: Opportunities for Scaling Up Financing for Clean Energy, Sustainable Landscapes, and Adaptation. It described experiences of USAID and other development assistance organizations to expand investment from the private sector and other sources. The webinar also highlighted options for improving enabling environments, strengthening information and capacity, and creating or strengthening financing mechanisms and instruments.
