- Climate Risk Profiles & Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions Fact Sheets – Climate risk profiles summarize key climate stressors and risks most relevant to a mission’s objectives. Greenhouse gas emissions fact sheets provide information that may be useful in identifying climate change mitigation opportunities.

Background and Policy on CRM at USAID
In October 2015, USAID updated guidance to better systematize the consideration of climate variability and change in development of country and regional strategies. Additional guidance for USAID policies, projects and activities became effective in October 2016. The resources below provide details.
- Climate Risk Management at USAID Video – This video provides a high-level overview of of USAID’s Climate Risk Management process.
- Climate Change in USAID Strategies: A Mandatory Reference for ADS Chapter 201 – This document provides guidance on climate risk management and the integration of climate change adaptation and mitigation in USAID strategies.
- Climate Risk Management for USAID Projects and Activities: A Mandatory Reference for ADS Chapter 201 – This document provides guidance on climate risk management for USAID staff designing and managing USAID projects and activities.
- Guidance on Writing and Reviewing Development Policy: A Mandatory Reference for ADS Chapter 200 – This document provides overall guidance on USAID policy formulation. The “Climate Change Requirements in New Agency Policy” annex (pages 13–14) provides guidance to ensure new Agency policies and programs consider the effects of climate change as well as opportunities to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Training
- Climate Resilient Development 101 – This 2-hour online course uses interactive features and videos to introduce fundamental concepts of climate resilient development, including how climate impacts are affecting key development sectors. The course includes a practical module, which helps users learn how to conduct a climate risk assessment using USAID’s Climate Risk Screening and Management Tool. USAID staff wishing to receive continuous learning credit for this course should search for this title in USAID University.
- What is the Climate Risk Management Process? – This 60-90 minute introduction walks you through each step in the CRM process. Brief descriptions, 2-3 minute videos and interactive questions provide an overview of the process.
