This COP24 side event will discuss the application of public blockchain to increase climate ambition and accelerate implementation of the Paris Agreement. The panel will propose principles and introduce live cases better connecting climate finance and carbon markets for the policy makers community, civil society and business sector. Presentations will include:

(1) The combination of blockchain, unmanned aerial vehicles, artificial intelligence and satellite imagery to ‘democratise’ climate finance architecture;

(2) Demonstration of geospatial analytics for forest monitoring;

(3) Interoperability of chains and climate mitigation programs plus ITMO protocol;

(4) Catalysing Paris Agreement Article 6 by connecting national carbon accounts on the blockchain; and

(5) Blockchain-based carbon reduction: Jeju case
