Boris Fernando Melgar, 5 years old, collects water at his family’s home in the La Concepción Community of El Salvador in December 2017. Catholic Relief Services with support from Keurig Dr. Pepper and the IDB LAB’s SAFE Platform has implemented the Blue Harvest program which aims to restore, manage and protect water resources in coffee producing areas through sustainable coffee agroforestry systems and improved water governance in El Salvador, Honduras, and Nicaragua. Another goal of the program is to strengthen coffee farmer livelihoods through access to high-value markets.
