Approaches to Collect, Exchange, and Integrate National and Global Datasets
This research study is part of the USAID-funded Assessing Sustainability and Effectiveness of Climate Information Services (CIS) in Africa (Sustainable CIS project). The project supports research to design and implement sustainable CIS models within and alongside Sub-Saharan African National Meteorological and Hydrological Service (NMHS). The project focuses on a subset of Sub-Saharan African countries, including Senegal, Cote d’Ivoire, Niger, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Malawi, and Mali.
The report explores ways to integrate climate and weather data and forecasts from different sources as well as those from global, regional and national centers. It also reviews challenges to data sharing and communication of climate observations and forecasts and provides guidance on the best opportunities to reduce cost and improve data sharing in Africa.
