Clean Energy Results Framework
This framework lays out a path for helping developing countries to transition to low emissions development through investments in clean energy and sustainable landscapes.
It starts with two intermediate results (IRs): Establish a foundation for low carbon energy systems and invest in land-use practices that stop, slow, and reverse emissions from deforestation and degradation of forest and other landscapes.
This is followed by two sub-IRs, below, and further set of results identified to achieve them:
- National frameworks for low emission development established or improved
- Clean energy use and investment enabled
The framework document explains each objective and why each intermediate result – and sub-sections – is needed in order to achieve the objectives.
It notes that examples of USAID’s mitigation investments include addressing market barriers and creating enabling environments conducive to private and other public investment; building knowledge and improving access to information; demonstrating new technologies and practices; and promoting sound strategic planning.
