CLEER Fact Sheet

USAID’s Clean Energy Emission Reduction (CLEER) activity gives a consistent way to estimate, report and aggregate greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reductions across the Agency’s clean energy programs. It is a part of USAID’s Resources to Advance LEDS Implementation (RALI) project. 
 
The factsheet explains why CLEER was developed, how it is improving the programs aimed at emissions reductions, the CLEER tool itself and calculators used to support the activity. 
 
The tool is a user-friendly web platform available to the public that helps users estimate and report GHG emissions that were avoided as a result of USAID-supported clean energy activities. It supports general renewable energy, energy efficiency and fuel switching actions. 
 
It lists some of the technology-based calculators. These are designed for geothermal power, solar thermal, hydroelectric power and wind turbines and another 13 technologies. 
 
USAID is pilot testing and training on CLEER to ensure that it aligns with other available data and reporting capabilities within USAID.
