Climate Risk Management: Monitoring, Evaluation, Learning and Knowledge Management
Climate risk management is the process of assessing, addressing and adaptively managing climate risks that may impact the ability of USAID programs to achieve their objectives (see USAID’s ADS 201mat and ADS 201mal). USAID’s Climate Risk Screening and Management Tools facilitate assessing and addressing climate risks. This companion document helps USAID’s community of development practitioners manage climate risks adaptively, learn from the process and record and share learning. The document covers incorporating climate risk management into monitoring, including performance indicators, context indicators and monitoring methods, evaluation, learning and adaptive management processes, and knowledge management.
The target audience includes USAID staff and implementing partners who manage USAID programs; USAID’s climate integration leads, who support climate risk management in their USAID mission or operating unit; and monitoring and evaluation specialists.
