Global Forest Watch - GLAD Alerts

This webinar reviews the features of Global Forest Watch (GFW) with a focus on how to use the interactive map. The default settings of the interactive map display annual tree cover loss and tree cover gain, data which are derived from satellite imagery and algorithms that were developed by the University of Maryland GLAD lab.

While the map displays tree cover loss over time, GFW also has several alert systems that recognize new tree clearings as they happen, including GLAD alerts. GLAD alerts are updated every eight days, allowing for near-real tree cover loss monitoring. The webinar walks users through how to access and use the GLAD alerts.
