Hariyo Ban Program Learning Strategy
This technical report shares the learning strategy developed under the Hariyo Ban Program, a USAID initiative in Nepal focused on biodiversity conservation, sustainable landscapes, and climate change adaptation. Through lessons learned on the program, the report authors share the new and multidisciplinary approach that includes a learning component in REDD+ and climate change adaptation. Two guiding principals helped in the development of the strategy — innovation and learning from challenges as well as successes. The strategy, designed to help other programs garner lessons learned about the style and outcomes, describes an approach to include existing learning from Nepal and other countries. This occurs while analyzing studies and other monitoring and evaluation results to test the hypotheses in the Hariyo Ban conceptual model and results chains.
The learning strategy was designed to evolve throughout the program, and information will be consistently shared with its consortium and partners. Mechanisms include the Hariyo Ban newsletter, internal weekly updates, documentation of stories from the field, thematic landscape based coordination meetings, presentations to partners, site visits and study tours, and integration of learning in training programs.
