A Learning Management System for India's Forest Sector: A Forest-PLUS Developed Online Learning Platform for Forestry
This brochure outlines a number of Forest-PLUS-developed online or mobile platforms intended to serve Indian institutions involved in India’s forest sector.
The online learning platform, or Learning Management System (LMS), contains courses focused on the latest developments and best practices for those familiar with the forest sector. A benefit of LMS is the expanded reach of instructors to be able to focus on interaction with learners rather than on content delivery. The Forest Data Management System (FDMS) allows for rapid planning, design, collection, analysis, and reporting of forest stocks in India. This data management system stores all data in one place and streamlines reporting efforts. mForest, a forest inventory app, allows for efficient and effective data collection that can be used for further calculations.
This fact sheet details other Forest-PLUS initiatives, including a management toolbox; technologies focused on saving fuel wood; techniques for reforestation of the oak tree; outreach, communication, and education programs; capacity building and trainings; harvesting techniques for non timber forest products (NTFP); and the Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) technology that enables accurate forest monitoring.
