LEDS and Green Growth Initiatives in India
This flyer provides an overview of Low Emissions Development Strategies (LEDS) and national green growth policies and plans in India. Included is information on financing and investment in green growth and green initiatives through The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI).
The Energy and Resources Institute is responsible for two initiatives in India: 1) Lighting a Billion Lives (LaBL) and 2) Green Rating for Integrated Habitat Assessment (GRIHA). The main objective of LaBL is to replace kerosene-based lighting with cleaner, efficient and reliable lighting through the promotion of rural entrepreneurship. GRIHA was adopted by the Government of India in 2007 as the national rating system for green buildings.
India has several green growth policies and plans, such as the National Action Plan on Climate Change, the National Missions for a Green India, the Integrated Energy Policy of 2008 and The National Innovation Act, which are outlined in the flyer.
