LEDS and Green Growth Initiatives in Nepal
This flyer presents information on Low Emissions Development Strategies (LEDS) and green growth policies and plans in Nepal. Included is information on the Climate Change Policy (NCCP), the Nepal Climate Change Program (NCCSP) and the Low Carbon Economic Development Strategy (LCEDS).
Nepal feels strongly that the economy, society and environment need to be further strengthened and integrated to promote Green Growth. Nepal is implementing practices to mainstream these components into the development process.
The flyer features the initiative District Climate and Energy Plans (DCEP) which is creating an implementation plan for accelerating the dissemination of renewable energy technologies at the district level. Under DCEP, the district of Llam identified improved cook stoves, solar home systems, improved water mills, biogas units, micro and pico hydro and capacity training as priority renewable energy technologies. DCEP pilot projects have emphasized the need for a systematic process and tools to create plans that integrate climate change, gender and social inclusion into energy planning, and ideas on assessing vulnerabilities of energy resources and opportunities created by climate change.
