LEDS and Green Growth Initiatives in Vietnam
This flyer is an overview of Low Emissions Development Strategies (LEDS) and growth initiatives in Vietnam. Two key strategies have been recently enacted to promote green growth: 1) The Vietnam National Climate Change Strategy (VCCS) and 2) The Vietnam Green Growth Strategy (VGGS). Included in the flyer is information on both key strategies, experiences and lessons learned, a proposed green growth strategy and sector specific mitigation actions.
The Vietnam National Climate Change Strategy focuses on adaptation and aims to ensure food, energy and water security, poverty alleviation, gender equality, social security and public health. The strategy considers a low carbon economy and green growth as principles in achieving sustainable development and greenhouse gas emission reduction. The strategy seeks to raise awareness, involvement and coping capacity of stakeholders while strengthening scientific and technological potential and human resources.
The Vietnam Green Growth Strategy aims to accelerate economic restructuring for efficient use of natural resources, reduce greenhouse gas emissions through research and technologies, develop infrastructure to improve economic efficiency, cope with climate change, contribute to poverty reduction and drive sustainable economic growth.
