Transparency and Long-Term Strategies Scoping Analysis Report
To support low-emissions development and decarbonization, countries are increasingly looking to develop long-term strategies (LTS)—a policy tool that helps a country identify development priorities and pathways to achieve mid-century greenhouse gas (GHG) reductions. The vision defined in a LTS can inform the development of shorter-term plans, such as nationally determined contributions (NDC). Developing LTS with transparency in mind promotes greater trust, bolsters good governance, and contributes to more stable and predictable investment environments. To better understand the current activities and needs related to LTS specific to developing countries, the T-LTS project assessed the work of partner countries and donors on long-term strategies—the results of which are summarized in this analysis report.
