Strengthening Utilities and Promoting Energy Reform (SUPER): Climate Finance for Electric Utility Investment

This White Paper is part of a larger SUPER Climate Finance project designed to build the capacity of electric utilities in USAID’s partner countries in accessing climate finance. In 2021, the Climatelinks community submitted over 160 resources on topics ranging from climate resilience in WASH and agriculture to environment and energy trends in Latin America and the Caribbean. Other notable documents included the 2020 Amazon Vision Report, an updated SERVIR Service Planning Toolkit, and more than 30 Country Development Cooperation Strategy (CDCS) Annexes on climate change.

Mangrove Conservation versus Shrimp Aquaculture: A Cost-Benefit Analysis

Half the world’s total mangrove deforestation since 2000 has taken place in Indonesia, where the main driver is conversion for shrimp ponds. A new cost-benefit analysis by the USAID-funded Climate Economic Analysis Development, Investment, and Resilience (CEADIR) Activity sheds light on the financial and economic value of mangrove conservation, including impacts on near-shore fishing and greenhouse gas emissions.

USAID’s Climate Work: FY 2023 Review

In FY 2023 USAID supported its partners to: prevent 295 million tons of greenhouse gas emissions, help communities in more than 60 countries build their resilience to climate impacts, conserve 82 million hectares of tropical rainforests, and mobilize $16.7 billion in outside public and private finance on top of USAID’s work.
